Salvador Dali Divine Comedy |
The Divine Comedy (Italian: Commedia, later christened "Divina" by Giovanni Boccaccio), written by Dante Alighieri between 1308 and his death in 1321, is widely considered the central epic poem of Italian literature, and is seen as one of the greatest works of world literature. The poem's imaginative vision of the Christian afterlife is a culmination of the medieval world-view as it had developed in the Western Church. It helped establish the Tuscan dialect in which it is written as the Italian standard.
The Divine Comedy suite consists of 100 color woodcut engravings created between 1960 and 1964 after 100 watercolors painted between 1951 and 1960. In the mid 1950s, the Italian Minister of Culture commissioned Salvador Dali to illustrate Dante’s Divine Comedy, to be published in 1965 in honor of the 700th anniversary of Dante’s birth in Florence in 1265. Dali's newly illustrated version of the European classic would be released in a year of celebratory fairs, symposia and readings during the great author's septecentennial. A bibliophile's dream, Dali's Divine Comedy, was published in six, slip-cased volumes – two each for Inferno, Purgatory and Paradise – with a total of 100 Dali wood engravings corresponding to the 100 stanzas or cantos in the epic poem. |

LeRoy Neiman |
Best known for his brilliantly colored, stunningly energetic images of sporting events and leisure activities, LeRoy Neiman is probably the most popular living artist in the United States. The artistic style of the fabulously successful Neiman is familiar to a remarkably broad spectrum of Americans --"rich and poor, black and white, urban and rural, educated and illiterate," and young and old alike. He was the official artist at five Olympiads. Millions of people have watched him at work: on ABC TV coverage of the Olympics,as CBS Superbowl computer artist, and at other major competitions, televised on location with his sketchbook and drawing materials, producing split-second records and highly developed images of what he is witnessing. |

Fine Art Photography |
A picture is worth a thousand words and when it comes to decorating your walls. Photography conveys countless emotions, shades and moods! ArtRev.com is proud to offer a diverse photography collection by top photographers from around the globe.
Our photographic prints are created typically using professional printers. These modern technology printers are capable of producing incredibly detailed prints. The Giclee printing technology utilizes microscopically fine droplets of ink to form the image. A Giclee can consist of nearly 20 billion ink droplets. The microscopic droplets of ink vary in sizes (approximately the size of a red blood cell) and density. This unique patented feature produces a near continuous tone image, smoother gradation between tones, and a more finely differentiated color palette. Numerous examples of giclee prints can be found in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Chelsea Galleries. Recent auctions of giclee prints have fetched $10,800 for Annie Leibovitz, $9,600 for Chuck Close, and $22,800 for Wolfgang Tillmans (April 23/24 2004, Photographs, New York, Phillips de Pury & Company.) |
