| We keep our memories made by the fireflies of our childhood.
The firefly has always been dreamed of by men as a carrier of light.
In Asia the firefly represents the hero’s spirit coming back to shine. She is present in the Japanese stamps of the Edo period (1603 – 1867) where we can see ravishing young ladies walking under the willows in search of fireflies.
In the painting it is the insect itself which is associated with feminine beauty.
It is also the female companion of the students it illuminates during their nights of work.
